You may also manage and upload files using programs in cPanel like Web Disk and File Manager. Other programs you may use are Dreamweaver and Microsoft FrontPage.
Please note: Try connecting to your host as yourdomain.ext (replace yourdomain with your domain name and ext with the proper extension). If this does not work, only then try ftp.yourdomain.ext. All web files go in the public_html folder on a cPanel server.
